The Power of Being Here, in Person
There’s something profoundly healing about sharing space with another human being. In-person therapy allows for real presence — eye contact, body language, a sense of safety, and connection that simply can’t be replicated through a screen. My office is designed to be a calm, grounding space where you can step away from the chaos of daily life and focus fully on your own healing.
Since 2020, the world of healthcare has shifted dramatically. Online therapy proved to be an invaluable bridge during uncertain times, and it continues to offer a convenient option when life gets hectic. But nothing compares to the deep work we can do together when you’re physically here — when you can exhale, settle into the space, and truly be present in the moment.
The Difference You Can Feel
In the office, we can engage with EMDR in its fullest form — using bilateral stimulation tools and techniques that are more immersive and effective when we’re face-to-face. The environment is structured to help your nervous system feel grounded and safe, allowing for the kind of breakthroughs that can be harder to access online.
Being here means fewer distractions. No screens, no background noise, no multitasking — just space for you. It’s a sacred pause from the demands of home, work, and caregiving. Many of my clients describe the in-person experience as a reset button for their nervous system — a time that belongs entirely to them.
When Online Therapy Makes Sense
Of course, life doesn’t always make space for travel. Online sessions remain a valuable option for clients who need flexibility — whether you’re taking a lunch break, waiting out traffic, or joining from your car while your kids are at practice. It’s a modern way to stay consistent in your care when time or distance gets in the way.
But when possible, I encourage you to come into the office. The physical environment — from the grounding scents to the cozy atmosphere — supports healing in a unique and powerful way.
Making Time for Yourself
“I just don’t have the time” is an outdated excuse. Whether you come in person or join online, therapy is your opportunity to step away from obligations and focus on what you need most. Healing requires attention and presence — and you deserve both.
About Linette Tovar, LPC-S
College and personal interests guided my professional choice.
Like many 18-year-olds entering college, I had no clue what I wanted to study. That was until I sat down in my first psych 101 class. I was fascinated with understanding the mind and why people do what they do. I also had a knack for listening to people share their stories, even after just meeting them.
I put the two together and thus began my journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). As a practicum student in graduate school, I worked with people in a state psychiatric hospital. It was a revolving door, and many of those individuals kept returning.
Experience at that hospital made me realize there was a lack of resources to help these people heal and become stable. This is where my passion for working with individuals who have sustained trauma started.
Then, I sought further training.
Training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) was good but not enough. So, I received training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). It’s better, but still not good enough.
I stumbled upon EMDR in 2016. Eureka! That was the missing piece. Not only did my clients believe the positive thoughts, but they also consistently experienced FEELING the positive emotions.
Some would say I was EMDR-trained before it was cool. However, I am thrilled EMDR is more popular now, as it should be. It has granted me the opportunity to witness what true healing is.
Life is not all work.
This boundary queen enjoys spending quality time with family. I also enjoy going to concerts to sing until my throat is sore. Although it can be an emotional rollercoaster, I love wearing maroon and white in the fall to cheer on my Texas A&M Aggies. Whoop!
